How we actually work

Nine operating
principles.

Not values. Values are character (those five, above). These are practice: specific, falsifiable commitments we hold ourselves to, and the things we'd fire ourselves for breaking.

Principle 01

Writing beats meetings.

Our default is a written doc, not a call. A 90-minute doc saves five hours of async misunderstanding. Good writing is a hiring criterion.

Principle 02

Seniority is the floor.

Seven years of production experience, minimum. Not a rule of thumb an explicit hiring gate. No "we'll grow into it."

Principle 03

Say no often.

We turn down ~60% of qualified inbound. Wrong fit, wrong timing, wrong problem shape. Saying no is how we say yes well.

Principle 04

Ship, don't demo.

Nothing counts until it's in a regulated production environment, under real load, with a real on-call rota. Demos are theatre.

Principle 05

No bench.

Utilisation-driven staffing pressures judgement in the wrong direction. We'd rather let talent rest than force-fit it. We don't run a bench.

Principle 06

Founders on every project.

A founder is in the room on every engagement, every week. Not as theatre as a tie-breaker and an accountability line.

Principle 07

Evidence over opinion.

In client disagreements, whoever has the evidence wins. Including when that's the client. Including when that's junior.

Principle 08

Client-visible on-call.

Every engagement has a named on-call engineer the client can reach by phone. Not a ticket portal. Not an account manager.

Principle 09

Publish the work.

Wherever clients allow, we write up what we built and what we learned. Partly to contribute. Partly to keep ourselves honest.
